Ubisoft, a popular video game company, has recently unveiled significant modifications to its game subscription service named Ubisoft+. In a recent blog penned by the company, Ubisoft+ is set to bifurcate into two distinct membership levels. The two levels include a higher-priced "Premium" subscription for $17.99 (or £14.99 per month) and a more affordable "Classics" subscription for $7.99 (£6.99 per month).
The Premium membership is designed to cater to avid gamers by offering some select, recent releases, like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, either on the launch day or as an early access perk. Contrastingly, the Classics membership intends to offer gamers access to an ensemble of popular games from the back catalog and live games, all handpicked for the best gaming experience.
The list of games available under both memberships is displayed on Ubisoft's official website. The Classics membership package seems to offer a compelling deal overall, even though the game selection is somewhat limited. The competitive pricing puts it up against other game subscription services like Xbox Game Pass, despite being comparably cheaper. The combination of some of the major popular titles, including Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, in the Classics subscription should keep the gamers entertained for a considerable period.
However, an important thing to highlight is the device restriction with the Classics subscription. This tier's games can only be accessed via PC, whereas the Premium membership is rounded off with support for PC, Amazon Luna, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S for specific titles. This makes the Premium membership a better choice for users tending to alternate between various platforms regularly.
Additionally, the two memberships differ in terms of content. The Premium membership comes with extra downloadable content (DLC) and other beneficial perks. For example, the subscribers can claim a 10% discount on virtual currency purchases, besides exclusive monthly rewards such as cosmetic skins for select games such as Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege or Watch Dogs: Legion.
