Cillian Murphy is set to reprise his role in the upcoming Peaky Blinders film, with production slated to commence in the upcoming months. The man behind Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight, has made it official that Murphy will be making a comeback for the film adaptation, which is scheduled to start shooting soon.

"He definitely is making a comeback for it," Knight remarked to Birmingham World regarding Murphy's participation. "We're planning to commence production in September, just a short distance away in Digbeth." While the film's release date is still under wraps, the expectation is to have Tommy Shelby gracing our screens by around 2025, basing on the projected start date for filming.

The possibility of Murphy's engagement in a cinematic sequel to the popular BBC series has been uncertain for some time. "In case there’s more tale to be told, I’d be keen to pursue it," the actor shared with Rolling Stone UK previously. "However, it must feel authentic and necessary. Steve Knight crafted 36 hours of television and we concluded on such a high note. I hold great pride in that final series. Hence, the continuation must appear genuine and warranted." It appears we're in for an "authentic and warranted" film experience with the commencement of production this autumn.

In a discussion with Birmingham World, Knight also lavished praise on Murphy for his recent Academy Award victory for his portrayal of the eponymous scientist in Oppenheimer. "He truly deserved it. His brilliance is unmistakable, plus he's an incredible person leading our production with such composure and sincerity," Knight expressed. "He's fully deserving of all his accolades."
